“Moonlight” Phantom Canyon Downhill Bike Ride

TRIP DESCRIPTION:            Come join us for an exciting 15 – 20 mile downhill bike ride through the beautiful Phantom Canyon. Beginning near Victor, Colorado, be prepared lose around 4000 ft. of elevation. This trip follows an abandoned gold mining railway. Ride alongside creeks, go over wooden bridges and cruise through dark tunnels. See this historic mining area from a whole new perspective! This is a great downhill ride for all skill levels, from novice to expert. Bring your bike, helmet, a light and water. Bikes can be rented from the Outdoor Recreation Center by calling 333-4753.This ride is very cool in the daylight, but super cool in the moonlight. Meet at Outdoor Rec. at 6:30 pm ready to have a great time. Plan on sleeping in on Sunday cause you will be getting home late. This trip fills up fast, sign up quick!!

                                 

WHAT TO BRING:             Bike, helmet (mandatory), water, camera and a light that will last at least four hours. Front and Dual suspension bikes are available to rent for $20 call 333-4753 to reserve.

 

WHAT TO WEAR:              Apparel appropriate for the sport and dress in layers. Bike gloves and padded shorts can make your ride much more comfortable. Avoid cotton clothing.  Most of all, Dress For The Weather! Apparel appropriate for the sport and dress in layers. Avoid cotton at all cost.  Clear or yellow lens eye protection. POSSIBLE RISKS:             Exposure to elements and dehydration. Dress appropriately and drink lots of water.

 

POSSIBLE HAZARDS:         This ride takes place on a dirt road so oncoming and passing cars are something to watch out for. To stay alert and be able hear traffic we ask that you leave your headsets and radios at home. Bridge crossings, dark tunnels, steep cliffs, and holes are possible. Use caution, stay on the path and following the guide will reduce the possibility for injury. Stay with your guide and stay in control. Be sure to arrive on time for a pre-trip bike inspection.

 

TRIP INCLUDES:              Activity Includes: Transportation, Vehicle support, and snacks. 

 

 ESSENTIAL PAPERWORK:    Release of Liability and Medical Forms must be turned in before activity departure. Med forms may be re-obtained after the activity so you can use them again. OAP cannot keep these on file. An I.D. card holder may sponsor up to five non-card holders as guests. Child consent forms for adults chaperoning children under 18 must be signed by legal guardian. REFUND POLICY:              Cancellations made within 72 hours of activities’ date will not be refunded. Payments are refundable when military commitments or medical emergencies are involved. Customer may be held responsible for irretrievable deposits. The participant must provide proper documentation upon refund request. Any trip is subject to cancellation due to unsafe weather conditions or a lack of participation. In this event, rescheduling or full refunds will be given.
